Job Description

Would you relish the opportunity to work with vulnerable people living in your local community, making a real difference to someone’s life?

Looking for an exciting, fresh start? Are you a people person who enjoys forming relationships?

Why not join our team as a Support Practitioner in Cowal? With various shifts on offer, there’s lots of opportunities to gain valuable experience within different settings.

We are looking for nurturing and supportive individuals who can work closely with a colleague as part of a team; providing high levels of care in the home.

Our care-at-home service enables people to stay in their own homes by providing help with daily living. Our role is not to do things for people, but to work with them, and we support everyone differently.

Our Overnight Responders are there when people need a helping hand most — answering Telecare Alarms, such as after a fall, to make sure support arrives quickly. It’s a vital role that helps people stay safe at home and avoid unnecessary hospital visits

As a Support Practitioner you will support people with all aspects of daily living by visiting them at home and in their communities. We adopt a person-centred approach to working with individuals who require support for a variety of reasons. We are looking for caring people who have a genuine passion for making a positive impact in their community, can stay calm under pressure, and communicate clearly and compassionately with others.

Whilst experience is always welcome, full training (including SVQ qualifications) is provided alongside regular support and supervision from your Service Manager. The right values and motivation are essential; honesty, respect, empathy and compassion are key skills that are required in people who join our teams.

We are looking for candidates who are flexible to work a variety of shift patterns which include:

Overnight Responders: 11pm – 7am

Care at Home: 7am – 2pm & 4pm – 10pm

We welcome applications from any candidates already eligible to work in the UK or those that can apply for a visa granting permission to work in the UK (e.g. dependent visas, ancestry etc.) that do not require sponsorship from Carr Gomm. You will be asked to share proof of this prior to receiving any offer of employment. It is currently our policy not to offer sponsorship for prospective candidates..

Drivers are referral but not essential if living locally.

As a way of demonstrating how much we value you and your commitment as a Permanent Support Practitioner, we offer a range of great benefits:

  • Anti-social hours payment of up to £1209 per annum when undertaking waking night shift (11pm-7am)
  • Enhanced mileage payment of 45p per mile
  • 35 days’ holiday per year, increasing to 40 days with length of service.
  • £200 Recommend a Friend Scheme (T&C apply)
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, and sick leave
  • A Defined Contribution pension scheme, with incremental employer contributions
  • Free Blue Light Card (giving access to thousands of discounts and promotions)
  • Access to the Carr Gomm App: which includes free physiotherapy, health coaching and counselling.
  • Membership of a credit union
  • Cycle to work scheme; and more!

If you think this could be the role for you, we’d love to hear from you.
