Supporting People with Learning Disabilities
We support people with learning disabilities and their families across Scotland, helping them live independently, build relationships, and enjoy fulfilling lives. Our services are designed to be person-centred, focusing on your goals, choices, and abilities.
All our support complements the Scottish Government’s Towards Transformation plan, helping people lead healthy lives, maximise choice and control, and take part in their communities.
Person-Centred Support
We work with you to achieve the outcomes that matter most to you. These may include:
-
Managing your home, tenancy, and personal finances
-
Building and maintaining relationships with family and friends
-
Shopping and cooking healthy meals on a budget
-
Communicating effectively, including understanding behaviour and using non-verbal communication
-
Enjoying education, work, or volunteering
-
Attending social activities, connecting with local resources, and trying new things
Our support practitioners are trained in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), focusing on positive approaches, least restrictive interventions, and empowering you to live confidently and safely.
Our Impact
Every person we support has their own story, interests, and goals. Take Simon and Yvonne, for example.
They are brother and sister who live together, each with their own personalities and passions. Simon enjoys volunteering in the community, while Yvonne loves musicals, her favourite being Fun Box. Living together independently allows them to support each other, pursue their interests, and feel a sense of achievement every day.
Stories like theirs show the difference person-centred support can make helping people with learning disabilities build independence, connect with their communities, and enjoy the activities they love.
