Supporting People Affected by Dementia

We support people who experience dementia and their families across Scotland. Our Support Practitioners are trained to understand the challenges dementia can bring and work with compassion to help you stay independent, connected, and enjoy meaningful activities.

All support is aligned with the Scottish Government’s national dementia strategy, and are focused on maximising independence, accessing appropriate medications, and enabling people to live as independent and fulfilled life as possible alongside those important to them.

Because of their help, I can go on living in my wee house.

Our Impact

Every person we support has their own story, interests, and ways of connecting with the world. Creative activities and practical projects can make a big difference in daily life.

Take Vinny, for example. He experiences dementia and Parkinson’s disease, and the simple act of sanding and painting offcuts of wood helps him focus his mind and brings his imagination to life.

Vinny’s designs are inspired by his local neighbourhood and the natural environment. His wife keeps objects around the home to remind him of the seasons, which led him to create a charming Easter bunny design.

The houses Vinny has designed will soon be displayed in the local GP service’s wellbeing garden, bringing joy to everyone who spends time there. His new hobby has given him focus, creativity, and happiness and we can’t wait to see what he creates next.
