Community Contacts

Get in touch via our online form to see how we might be able to help, or give us a call on 01546 886285.

Community Contacts is an independent Carr Gomm project offering impartial advice, information and support about Self-Directed Support. We do this by offering ‘A Helping Hand with Self-Directed Support (SDS)'.

Community Contacts currently operates in Argyll & Bute and Highland.

Funded by the Scottish Government’s Support in the Right Direction (SiRD) initiative, Community Contacts aims to help people to design and manage their own support in a confident and informed manner; all with the re-assurance of knowing that we are there to help them if they need us. We do this in partnership with others, including the local Social Work Department and local community organisations.

The project can help to reduce feelings of uncertainty by providing opportunities for people to make connections with specialist organisations or groups who can offer support; for example, local carers’ organisations. We can also facilitate opportunities between people to share experiences and knowledge of SDS.

We aim to assist people to exercise their rights and to take as much choice and control as they want about how their support is organised, managed and delivered. We achieve this by sharing fact-based information, advice and support. We work with others to make connections so that people have more opportunities to participate in their community and wider society to address feelings of isolation and loneliness.

General information on SDS is available on our Self-Directed Support page.
