Celebrating 20 years with Carr Gomm

Our staff are the driving force behind Carr Gomm, and their commitment to providing the best care possible enables us to support over 3,000 people every day. We are incredibly lucky to have such dedicated staff who have stayed with us throughout the years. Mavis and Gillian, this month, are celebrating their 20th anniversary with Carr Gomm!

We wish to extend a massive thank you to Mavis and Gillian for their incredible hard work and dedication over the past 20 years.

Mavis’ thoughts on celebrating 20 years with Carr Gomm:

“I don’t really know if I can pinpoint one, two or even three things that I love about my job, as there are so many things that I love about my job – I am one of those people who actually love coming to work….now don’t get me wrong – like every job there are days where I think, ‘why didn’t I retire a few years ago when I first thought about it?’ but then I see something or hear something someone we support has done or is doing, or a staff member has been recognised for their work above and beyond their job, or an external professional or family member tells us that it is or has been our involvement that has changed someone’s life or even saved it – it is all of these things that makes me remember why I love my job, why I haven’t retired and why I am still here after 20yrs…..I probably am biased here, but I do often think, ‘would I still be working if it wasn’t Carr Gomm whom I was working for’ I can’t obviously answer this question completely, honestly, but I don’t think I would be – this is another reason as to why I love my job, my Forth Valley Managers and teams, my colleagues both locally and Nationally, my line Manager, Carr Gomm in general – I love the ethos of the Organisation and my colleagues – it is everything I believe in and want for people we support.”

Gillian’s thoughts on celebrating 20 years with Carr Gomm:
“There are so many reasons why I have loved the different roles that I have had with Carr Gomm in the past 20 years. I can still remember being drawn to the job role of Support Worker because of the values Carr Gomm and the fact that they aligned with the way that I believe that we should all treat each other. Truly being a part of an organisation where everyone is valued and respected regardless of their individual circumstances, there are opportunities to connect and develop relationships and that we strive to support people to live a meaningful life that is full of the activities and experiences that they enjoy has been a real privilege. I feel proud of myself and the many colleagues that I have worked with for the energy and creativity that we bring to our roles to make a real impact and difference to the lives of the people we support and their families and for creating a culture where the last 20 years have flown by and that I am excited and look forward to the years ahead.”
