On a beautiful sunny day, a group of almost 100 people including staff, suppliers and customers of Leonardo UK, took to the course at Baberton Golf Club to raise funds for CG100, our 2017 fundraising campaign.
A brilliant day of golf, a raffle and an auction raised an amazing 5,250 towards stomping out loneliness. Leonardo staff member Andy Briggs shot an almost flawless round, scoring an amazing 43 Stableford points, and was unsurprisingly declared the winner. Andy was also a member of the winning trio in the team event.
This tournament has now been running for more than twenty years, and has raised over 100k for charities in Edinburgh. Chief Executive Lucy Wren was delighted to go along, on behalf of Carr Gomm, to pick up a cheque and say thank you to Committee members Richie Gillies, David Proudfoot, Ann Brown, Dave Lyle and John McHugh, who recently retired from Leonardo after 45 years service!
David Proudfoot knows of the importance of Carr Gomms work and suggested we be the beneficiary of the event.
We always prefer to support local charities through this event, and select a different one each year, often looking to those who dont get the media exposure of the major charities.
Were extremely grateful to David and the Committee members for choosing Carr Gomm and the CG100 to be the Leonardo Committees chosen charity for 2017, and to everyone who came along and made the day such a success.
This goes to show the endless possibilities for raising those all important pennies. Find out how you can get involved with our current fundraising initiatives here.
