About Us

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Deputy Chief Executive will help deliver the organisation’s mission and strategic plan, ensuring safe, responsive, and innovative services shaped around the needs of the people Carr Gomm supports. Working closely with the Executive Team, they will provide strategic leadership, uphold organisational values, and represent Carr Gomm nationally.

The successful candidate will lead with purpose in a values-led organisation passionate about people, partnership, and progress. They will work collaboratively across the sector, supporting Carr Gomm’s ambition to be a bold voice for change and a champion for those too often unheard.

This is a key moment for Carr Gomm. With strong foundations in place and the sector evolving rapidly, the next Deputy Chief Executive will bring a steady hand while looking ahead — responding to change, identifying opportunities, and helping the organisation adapt and grow.

Key priorities include:

  • Lead a high-performing, values-led team to deliver strategic priorities
  • Direct responsibility for contractual operations
  • Champion excellent, person-centred services across all localities
  • Contribute to national policy discussions and advocate for change in social care
  • Build strong partnerships and raise Carr Gomm’s profile across the sector
  • Support new approaches to service design, community development, digital inclusion, and prevention
  • Ensure strong financial stewardship and long-term sustainability

The Person

Carr Gomm is seeking an experienced, credible leader who shares their commitment to social justice and inclusive, empowering support. Deputy Chief Executive’s are ambassadors, analytical thinkers, excellent storytellers, and passionate world changers

The ideal candidate will bring senior leadership experience, ideally in the third or public sector, and the ability to work collaboratively and with integrity.

They will be approachable and grounded, with the strategic vision to see what’s next. A strong relationship-builder, they will understand the importance of listening to, learning from, and involving people at every level — from staff and Board members to the people Carr Gomm supports and their communities.

The ideal candidate will bring social care experience, a strong understanding of Scotland’s policy and funding landscape, and the resilience and financial acumen to help shape the future of care in Scotland.
