This summer, the inaugural Forth Valley Sports Day took place at The Peak in Stirling. The event provided people supported by Carr Gomm with the opportunity to try something new, offering an amazing range of accessible sports and activities.

The Forth Valley Sports Festival started as an idea submitted to our Futures group by Lead Practitioner Vadim. He was supported by our Healthy Living and Wellbeing Coordinator, Daniel Currie, to make the event a reality.

Supported by local clubs, groups and organisations, the Forth Valley Sports Festival had so much to offer, with people enjoying cycling with Active Stirling’s Bikes Without Barriers, playing football with Milton All Stars Football Club, trying rugby with Bannockburn Rugby Club, and people even had a go at cricket with Cricket Scotland. Forth Valley Disability Sports also provided people the chance to try golf, athletics and archery. Meanwhile, our friends at Health by Science tested people’s stamina through fun and engaging fitness challenges.

John, who attended the festival, said, “It was good to see that they catered to people with mental health problems and learning disabilities – and they were actually participating.”

The Forth Valley Sports Festival was a huge success, with one participant even deciding to join their local rugby club!

Thank you to the amazing organisers, Vadim and Daniel, for making it all happen.

We cannot wait for next year’s event!
