We are excited to announce the launch of our new Digital Skills & Inclusion Hub.

In a digital-first world, feeling confident navigating the internet and using digital tools is not just a benefit—it’s a necessity. The people we support are using digital technology more than ever before, engaging in activities such as virtual GP appointments, online shopping, entertainment and more.

Through our Digital Skills Survey, frontline staff expressed the need for more support to feel secure using digital technologies and supporting vulnerable people to use these tools safely.

Based on this valuable feedback, we’ve developed a new Digital Skills & Inclusion Hub aimed at supporting our team in feeling comfortable and confident using digital technologies as part of their day-to-day roles.

The Hub is based on SCVO’s Essential Digital Skills Toolkit and offers several comprehensive resources on foundational and essential digital skills, online safety, digital wellbeing, supporting someone to get online, and using systems.

The hub is the creation of an internal working group led by our Digital Inclusion Development Manager, Shannon McNee. The group brought together members of our HR, Learning & Development and Administration teams who worked collaboratively over the past year.

“Our Support Practitioners are in the lives of thousands of people each day who are at increased risk of being locked out of our increasingly digital world. Through supporting our staff to feel comfortable and confident in their own digital skills, we can ensure more people we support have the choice to get online in a safe and meaningful way.” – Shannon McNee, Digital Inclusion Development Manager

The Digital Skills & Inclusion Hub will be a key part of our person-centred approach, giving our Support Practitioners the tools and knowledge to support people in their day-to-day living, planning for the future, and in realising dreams in an increasingly digital world.

Since 2021, Carr Gomm’s Digital Inclusion Project has successfully supported over 100 people in getting online, while also empowering our staff. To learn more about our Digital Inclusion Project, please visit our Digital Inclusion Project page.
