Through Team Carr Gomm, we want people to get socially and physically active in whatever way they choose, all to raise money to help us alleviate loneliness and social isolation across Scotland.
Alex certainly rose to the challenge, setting herself the ambitious goal of completing 500 miles in 100 days. As well as making her commute to work more active, Alex encouraged her friends and family to participate in activities with her.
Over the 100 days, Alex walked 178 miles, cycled 268 miles, rowed 20 miles, and surfed 12 miles- achieving a phenomenal 468 miles. She also ran, rock climbed, ceilidh danced, stand-up-paddle-boarded, sea canoed and played tennis, all of which helped her reach her 500 mile goal. That’s a whole lot of mileage to help reduce social isolation and loneliness!
Through sponsorship from friends and family Alex raised £150 for Team Carr Gomm, which has helped us continue our various community projects and activities across Scotland.
“I was motivated to fundraise because I’m aware of the negative impact of loneliness, and have seen the benefits of similar projects in my own community.”
