As a Support Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in helping people live their best lives. Every day, you’ll make a real difference, whether you’re supporting someone with daily routines, helping them settle back home after a hospital stay, or responding to telecare alarms. It’s a role where every day you help people stay connected, independent, and supported in their own homes.
About Us
Carr Gomm is a leading social care and community development charity, supporting people across Argyll & Bute to live independently, safely, and well in their own homes. We are currently recruiting Support Practitioners for the following services in Dunoon:
Care at Home
Support people with their daily routines according to their individual support plan. This includes meal preparation, medication, personal care, and other practical support to maintain independence and quality of life.
Shift patterns vary depending on people’s needs, from 07:00-14:00 and 16:00-22:00.
All Support Practitioners support people to live well in their own homes, building trusting relationships and helping them stay connected to their community. As a Support Practitioner, you will have a diverse role helping to promote wellness and encourage people we support to live their best possible life.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for people who are compassionate, reliable, and community-minded. Full training is provided, and you’ll be supported to achieve an SVQ in Health and Social Care while you work.
Many roles involve travel across rural communities, so having a full driving licence is required.
You will:
- Support people with daily activities, including meals, medication, and personal care
- Build strong, trusting relationships with people and their families
- Work flexibly across different shift patterns, including days, evenings, and weekends
Being a Support Practitioner with Carr Gomm is a diverse and engaging role, with many exciting opportunities to be involved with. The Move to Improve scheme is a person-centred programme developed with our partners at Health by Science, supporting staff to help the people we support stay active, mobile and independent. Through meaningful, enjoyable movement tailored to each individual, we aim to build confidence, support recovery, reduce avoidable hospital admissions and promote long-term health and wellbeing. It’s all about celebrating progress, however small and helping people invest in their health for the future
Contracts: Part-time and full-time contracts are available. If you can’t commit to set hours, we also have Relief Support Practitioner roles for greater flexibility. Due to the nature of the service, a drivers licence is required.
