Our Support
Home-Based Respite
Our services in Highland provide respite breaks to people with caring responsibilities. Our support helps to keep people in their own homes, surrounded by familiarity and comfort.
We deliver Home-Based Respite in Nairn, Inverness, Lochaber, Dingwall, Grantown-on-Spey, Black Isle and surrounding areas. Aswell as Care at Home support in Seaboard.
Community Contacts
Community Contacts is an independent Carr Gomm project offering impartial advice, information and support about Self-Directed Support. We do this by offering ‘A Helping Hand with Self-Directed Support (SDS)’.
Community Contacts currently operates in Argyll & Bute and Highland.
Work with Us
We provide vital social care services across the Highlands and regularly recruit part-time and relief Support Practitioners to join our team. As a Relief Support Practitioner, you’ll deliver short respite visits, helping carers get a well-deserved break by providing person-centred support such as companionship, meal assistance, and personal care tasks like washing or dressing.
We offer full training and ongoing support, plus the opportunity for permanent staff to achieve an SVQ in Health and Social Care while working with us. No previous experience is needed – we’re looking for people who share our values and passion for supporting people to live their best lives.
Our flexible shifts can be tailored to fit around your other commitments, whether childcare, studies, or more.
For those interested, our Seaboard service also provides Care at Home support.
You are making such a difference to peoples lives even just by a tiny thing that you might do for them the people I have worked with are so appreciative.
Meet our Community
Hear from the people who make Carr Gomm in the Highlands what it is – like Kathryn, a Relief Support Practitioner in Lochaber, and Lorraine, who is supported in Caithness.

Community Projects
A core part of our work is fundraising to support community connections through projects and activities across Scotland. Our charity shop, located in the Queensgate Arcade in Inverness, offers a great variety of items to browse and buy. By shopping with us or following our shop on Facebook, you’re directly supporting activities for people and families helped by our respite services across Highland.
