Daniel, Relief Support Practitioner in Glasgow, shares how his work at Carr Gomm inspired his studies in further education.
When Daniel joined Carr Gomm as a Relief Support Practitioner, he had no experience in the sector, but the positive experiences he had and his wonderful colleagues inspired him to further his education and continue to develop and improve as a Support Practitioner.
Here, Daniel shares his career story so far:
“I’m Daniel Reilly. I’m a Relief Support Practitioner and I’ve been working for Carr Gomm for four years now.
I started working for Carr Gomm at the end of Covid, where the restrictions were still in place, but they were starting to get lifted.
Prior to Carr Gomm, I didn’t have any experience working in the care sector, but I found almost immediately that the people we work with were dead open about sharing what they know about the business and how best to care for people and then two years later, I decided that I wanted to take that further.
So I took it on myself to go to college, get my Highers and all my relevant degrees to do social work now. I’m just about to go into my second year of social work, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
I find that I got through the first year of social work, due to my experiences, in Carr Gomm, where I actually used a lot of my practical work in my assignments, and I was able to relate it to the theory side of social work.”
We’re so proud of what Daniel has achieved so far in his short career with Carr Gomm, and cannot wait to see where his journey leads to next.
