Anthony (Ant) has always liked the idea of growing his own food, so this year he decided to give it a go.
After being gifted some seeds and peas by his support team, Ant picked up soil and everything else he needed to plant them from the garden centre. Over the following weeks he watered, weeded and kept a close eye on his growing veggies, watching them come along bit by bit.

Peas from Ant’s vegetable garden.
That patience has paid off. Ant has now harvested his own vegetables and used them to cook up some tasty meals, including some home-grown peas that he was especially proud of. Ant said he’s been really impressed with what he’s managed to grow.
Ant’s gardening experience is a great example of person-centred support. It shows what’s possible when we take the time to understand what matters to someone. Then support them to achieve it, in a way that’s meaningful to them.

Ant is supported by our Home-Based Respite service in Highland. To learn more about our work in the area, visit out Highland page.
