Sharing Carr Gomm’s approach to social care with CIF International Delegates from across Europe.
In May, Carr Gomm welcomed CIF International delegates to our offices and services in Edinburgh.
We were privileged to host a visit from esteemed international delegates representing CIF International, who came to our offices to gain insights into Scotland’s unique social care practices.
CIF International is an organisation that promotes professional, cross-cultural, and educational exchanges for social service workers. The learning and sharing generated by the exchanges provide opportunities for broadening professional and personal development and, thus, contribute to peace and understanding.
Elke (Germany), Katerina (Greece), Linn (Sweden), and Anne (UK CIF president) visited one of our frontline services in Edinburgh. There, they witnessed Carr Gomm’s person-centred approach to care firsthand and spoke with our Service Manager and Support Practitioners to better understand support in action.
After seeing how our services operate in person, the Delegates were warmly welcomed by Andrew (Deputy Chief Exec), Gillian (Operations Manager – Edinburgh & Lothians), and Rebecca (International Collaborations Project Manager) in our head office to understand more about the history of Carr Gomm. The visit was not just a one-way learning experience but a platform for a rich knowledge exchange about Carr Gomm’s person-centred approach to care, the unique social care landscape in Scotland, and the social care practices in the delegate’s home countries.
After the meeting, the delegates expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to visit Carr Gomm and highlighted the positive knowledge they had gained.
The meeting was an excellent opportunity for both the International Delegates and Carr Gomm staff to better understand the experiences and insights on social care from diverse countries. It fostered a collaborative environment, driving progressive learning to advance social care worldwide.
We are looking forward to further international visits and continuing to share our person-centred approach with people from around the world.
