21st February 2023 marks 10 years to the day since Team Carr Gomm tackled Africa’s highest peak. Andrew Thomson, Senior Operations Manager for Carr Gomm, reflects on his adventure conquering Mount Kilimanjaro.
Exhausted.
Hungry.
Cold.
But absolutely exhilarated, overjoyed, and full of wonder.
I was dancing on the roof of Africa – the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro – alongside a bunch of amazing Carr Gomm fundraisers. Together, we had overcome physical and psychological adversity to reach the top, and in some small way, we’d caught a glimpse into the adversity that some people face every day.
Together, we had raised over £44,000 to invest in supporting people and communities to achieve their hopes and dreams. Together, we had created new friendships and formed lifelong bonds, and we knew that our fundraising would support others to forge new relationships too. Together, we had done it.
