Carr Gomm Global Ambassador Leanne will travel to Turin, Italy, for the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) conference.
As part of our incredible International Collaborations Global Ambassador Programme, Leanne, Highland Operations Manager, will be representing Carr Gomm at the EASPD conference in October.
The EASPD conference aims to showcase how disability services can extend their support to families and informal carers of people with disabilities, providing an opportunity for Leanne to learn and share best practices in disability services on behalf of Carr Gomm.
Leanne shares her hopes and expectations for the conference:
This October, I’ll be attending the EASPD conference in Turin, titled “Empowering families, enabling self-determination: Rethinking support at every life stage.” It’s a gathering of professionals from across Europe who are working to improve how we support individuals and families, something that’s central to what we do at Carr Gomm.
As Highland Operations Manager, I’m looking forward to representing our organisation and learning from others in the sector. The theme of the conference really resonates with our values at Carr Gomm and supporting people to live their best lives.
One session I’m particularly interested in is the workshop “Who cares for the young carers,” which looks at how local collaboration can make a real difference. It’s a topic that feels especially relevant to the communities we work with.
For me, this conference is a chance to reflect, connect, and bring back ideas that could help strengthen our approach. I’m keen to hear what others are doing, share our experiences, and explore new ways to support people at every stage of life.
If you are working in social care, disability services, or community support, I’d really encourage you to explore the programme, it’s full of sessions that speak directly about the challenges we face and the impact we strive to make every day.
– Leanne Wells, Highlands Operations Manager
Be sure to check back in October to hear from Leanne and her experience at the EASPD Conference.
We want to extend our gratitude to EASPD for the travel agent grant, which made this opportunity possible.
