Salary: £28,415 - £32,380 per annum 

Type: Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to join our well established and developing services in Dundee. Our services provide person-centred support that enables people to live the life they choose. Our goal is to enable people to live safely and to do the things they want to do. This includes day-to-day living, planning for the future and realising their dreams. We provide specialist support to people with a range of conditions including mental health, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and autism.

As a Service Manager you would lead your team, support and mentor practitioners in your services, motivate them to be more creative, imaginative around support but most of all be ‘passionate about people’

The role also involves maintaining financial viability of the service, service development and contributing to the local management team. The successful applicant will be able to promote Carr Gomm’s values and policies in all aspects of the role.

In our eyes, the best Service Managers are self-motivated people with experience of providing direct support on a one to one basis with a person centred approach and whose people skills allow them to build and maintain positive relationships with others – based on mutual respect and understanding. You will have experience of managing support arrangements including support agreements/plans and risk assessments. You may also have experience of managing people which will include planning staff rotas to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead and manage  the  team  to  support  people  to  live  safely  in  their  own  homes,  to  realise  their  ambitions  and  fulfil  their  Doing so with a person-centred approach and in line with Carr Gomm’s values.
  • Establish, sustain  and  develop  the  service  in  its  area  in  line  with  the  contract  and  our  business plan.
  • Ensure that the service operates flexibly in response to changing requirements by promoting thoughtful, consistent and creative practice.
  • Ensure  that  Support Plans ,  Risk  Assessments  and  specific  support  strategies  are  prepared, reviewed and followed in  line  with our policies and the identified needs and outcomes of  people supported.
  • Ensure internal information systems are up to date and utilised to make management decisions.
  • In partnership with the Operations Manager, consider developing  alternative  and  imaginative  ways  of  delivering  the  service  and  supporting 
  • Understand the contract and ensure we are contract compliant which will include managing the budget, the staff complement and rotas.

Person Specification

  • Experience of providing direct support on a one to one basis with a person-centred approach
  • Experience of managing support arrangements including support plans and risk assessments
  • Experience of managing people including planning staff rotas to deliver a service 
  • Skilled at building positive relationships with others – based on mutual respect and understanding – regardless of age, background or support needs
  • SVQ4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent or willingness to undertake within the required time period
  • Able to understand and pass complex information to people with different levels of understanding including people we support, their family and other professionals in a clear and concise manner
  • You will have an understanding of developing outcomes focussed support plans and risk assessments and putting these into practice. Good written and verbal communication skills required.
