Service Manager 
Responder Service – Argyll & Bute (West)

DESCRIPTION
£28,415– £32,380 (pro rata) per annum 
Permanent Post, 30 hours per week 
Pro rata is based on a FTE of 37.5 hours 

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for a Service Manager post in the Day and Overnight responder service. You could be based in the Oban or Lochgilphead office as is most convenient to you. You will be required to travel regularly across our services, as such, being a driver and regular access to a car is essential. At times, the service will necessitate that you work unsocial hours.

The Service Manager will ensure the support to be person-centred, meeting standards and consistent; manage and support team members; and liaise with relatives and other agencies. The role also involves maintaining financial viability of the service, service development and contributing to the local management team. The successful applicant will be able to promote Carr Gomm’s values and policies in all aspects of the role.

The responder service provide an effective and efficient way to respond to risks that occur on an unplanned basis, for example falls and other accidents. The responder approach ensures that people remain safe and well in their own home, whilst reducing incidences of ambulance call-outs and hospital admissions. The responder service also provides planned supports.

Person Specification

  • Experience of providing direct support on a one to one basis with a person-centred approach
  • Liaising daily with our partners to ensure support is effective and service is able to respond
  • A ‘people person’ who can build positive relationships with others – based on mutual respect and understanding – regardless of age, background or support needs
  • Experience of managing support arrangements including support agreements/plans and risk assessments
  • Experience of managing people including planning staff rotas to deliver a service
  • SVQ4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent or willingness to undertake within the required time period
  • You will have an understanding of developing support plans and risk assessments and putting these into practice. Good written and verbal communication skills required.
