The team in Glasgow organised a BBQ and walk to kick off their programme of summer events. With almost 40 people attending, a mixture of people supported and staff, the day out at Mugdok park was a huge success.

The team in Glasgow made a questionnaire to ask everyone what kind of things they would like to see happen across summer. The BBQ in 2018 has been a success so it was decided to do it again, this time at the start of summer to give everyone the chance to meet and make friends.  There were even some familiar faces there with some people bumping into old neighbours from over a decade ago!

The day began with everyone arriving at Mugdok park, greeted with some fruit and water to get them started on their walk. The walk round the park was 3 to 4 miles long with a beautiful loch and two castles to enjoy along the way. Everyone took it at their own pace, splitting off into smaller groups and chatting along the way.

At the end of their walk they were greeted with a delicious BBQ and even a slice of cake as it was one of the worker’s 50th birthday.

Everyone involved had a great day, several people had been nervous and anxious in the lead up to the day out. Although some found it a challenging day they were glad they’d attended.

“Really friendly, I got so much out of the day; I really did enjoy it and almost never came. Thanks so much”'

Several people commented on how relaxed and involved they felt, others plan to go back to the park with their family for a day out. Most people are keen to take part in the other summer events, with plans to catch up with the people they met at the BBQ.

What a success! We think this comment sums it up perfectly:

“Great wee day oot!”
