Urgent Appeal – Keep Warm Boxes

Carr Gomm is delivering boxes filled with essentials to keep people warm in their homes over winter.

Support Practitioners in Carr Gomm’s Argyll and Bute services noticed the impact of rising energy costs and power cuts on people that they care for. In response, they put together ‘Keep Warm Boxes’ that contain items including blankets, hats, hot water bottles, torches and radios.

Within one week, the services received over 100 requests for boxes from people across the region. Within two weeks, 200 requests were made.

Local businesses and national organisations have donated items to the boxes, and Carr Gomm’s 24/7 responder team are now delivering directly to people’s doors. They are urgently seeking more donations to kit out or fund these boxes.

Denise Murdoch, Senior Operations Officer for Carr Gomm’s rural service commented, “The boxes have been spurred on by the amount of people we see who have been turning their heating down to an unsafe level. We want to keep people comfortable throughout the winter months and so we greatly appreciate people’s support for this campaign. We can’t heat people’s homes, but we can help keep the person warm.”
