Get involved Donate Donate Donate Social isolation is a state of overwhelming lack of contact between a person and their community. For Robert and up to one third of the population at some point in their lives, this can cause crushing loneliness which becomes debilitating and means an increased risk of heart attack, dementia, depression and early death. "Social isolation gradually diminished my life: I never left my house and I felt no motivation to do anything." Britain is the loneliness capital of Europe. Loneliness can be further complicated by ageing, bereavement, disability, discrimination, domestic violence, physical and mental ill-health, poverty, stigma and unemployment. It can happen to anyone. It can happen at any age. It is an issue for all of us. Carr Gomm has a proven track record of tackling the causes of social isolation, improving people’s wellbeing and sustainably increasing community resilience. We are privileged to have supported thousands of people across Scotland, and are thrilled to see the difference our projects and activities have made to people's lives. Despite the impact of our work, there is still much to do in communities across Scotland and we need your help now. We are seeking to raise a minimum of £31,090 by the end of August 2019 to continue our impact and develop new projects across Scotland. Donate today and be part of our Team tackling social isolation and helping to build a more resilient Scotland.
