I joined Carr Gomm in 2000 as a senior support practitioner, having gained a lot of relevant experience in the mental health sector.
After a short while with Carr Gomm, I became manager for the Midlothian service, setting up and developing a large visiting service for the local community.
I then took the opportunity to establish and develop our first services in Argyll and Bute. This meant a move to Argyll for my husband and I. The service here has continued to flourish and we have since achieved a strong base, forming excellent relationships with our partners.
Over a number of years, I was encouraged to further my career progressing to the position of senior operations manager.
I am now responsible for developing, leading and managing services and teams in Argyll & Bute and the Highlands.
In Argyll, we have been successful in developing innovative, flexible and responsive services that have supported people well in the local area. Our responder services, housing support and appropriate adult services are all examples of this. At the same time, we have developed a strong management team that supports all services across all areas.
I enjoy the challenge of getting things done, always believing that there is a way forward in any situation. I, at times, will undertake a shift in the services to ensure I am fully aware of all the successes and challenges that our teams experience.
I’m grateful for the job that I do, each day is so varied and I love being there to help colleagues with whatever problem they may need a hand solving.
Outside of work, I prefer spending time with my children and grandchildren, sitting out in our lovely garden in the summer and reading. Those who know me also know how much I love my coffee!
