Britain is the loneliness capital of Europe. Loneliness can be further complicated by ageing, bereavement, disability, discrimination, domestic violence, physical and mental ill-health, poverty, stigma and unemployment. It can happen to anyone. It can happen at any age. It is an issue for all of us.
We fundraise to tackle this very issue, and to provide support where no one else is.
Carr Gomm has a proven track record of tackling the causes of social isolation, improving people’s wellbeing and sustainably increasing community resilience. We are privileged to have supported so many people across Scotland, and are thrilled to see the difference our projects and activities are making to people's lives. You can read more about our work, and the ways in which we are using your fundraised and donated monies below.
Fundraised money provides additional opportunities to meet new friends, to develop an increased sense of community, and to dream of new adventures in life.
Our projects use gardening and outdoor activities to tackle health and social inequalities in some of Scotland’s most deprived communities.
Men in Sheds projects are friendly and welcoming places where socially isolated and lonely men build self-esteem, develop new skills, and combat isolation and loneliness
