News News Kiltwalk fundraising victory Our talented team members Blaire and Jessie have successfully raised nearly £1000 for Carr Gomm through the Edinburgh Virtual Kiltwalk. Like many events, this year’s Kiltwalk was pitched as a virtual experience. Taking off on an adventure, Jessie and Blaire walked four hills in Edinburgh, wearing tartan. With sausage rolls in their bellies, they walked up Salisbury Crags, Arthur's Seat and two other hills in Holyrood Park. They were joined by Mac the Labrador. A happy go lucky chap, he made a perfect companion and was usually bounding ahead of the girls. Their friend Tanya also joined, taking some amazing photographs along the way. Jessie and Blaire both work as project officers at Carr Gomm. Blaire has been with the charity for over two years, and has worked in marketing for our Business Development Team and as a support practitioner in our Edinburgh & Lothians Service. Jessie started with the team in March 2020, with a focus on fundraising and supporting the marketing output. As friends from university and now colleagues, the girls were more than excited to do this walk together to raise some money for the Carr Gomm family they are a part of. Jessie said: “It was a brilliant day, the weather stayed mostly good and I have been amazed at the support we have received. We set up the fundraiser page only a few weeks ago and we have had lots of support from friends and family. So far, we have raised £630, but with the help of the Kiltwalk Foundation who have pledged to donate 50% on top of raised funds, we are very close to doubling our target. Blaire said: “It was a no-brainer to sign up for the Kiltwalk and raise money for Carr Gomm. I have seen first-hand the positive impact our organisation continues to have on people across Scotland, through visiting different services, as a projects officer and supporting people in Edinburgh to live the life they choose. “Thank you to everyone who has donated or who plans to still donate. You are making a huge difference and are all shining stars.” Did you know? Kiltwalks are mass participation walking events that raise much-needed funds for Scottish charities and projects. Every year events take place across Scotland - Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh. Due to COVID, they have had to do things a bit differently this year. Update: Jessie and Blaire raised £1270! Thank you for your support.
