A different festive season all round

At Carr Gomm, Christmas means coming together, celebrating each other and having fun with the people we care about.

We know that it’s people who make our Christmas experiences special. It’s our staff, the people we support, and our communities coming together to make this time of year festive and fun across our services in Scotland.

However, for many people, this festive season will feel very different. With restrictions in place, some individuals won’t be able to spend time with friends and family, or get involved in the usual fun that many associate with this time of year.

Despite the change and uncertainty, we're still managing to spread some cheer and enjoy the festivities, with our team working their socks off to create magical experiences for people supported.

What is Carr Gomm doing for Christmas?

Across our services, people are sharing innovative ideas and getting creative. In Edinburgh, the team in Merchiston has crafted and designed colourful angels and sparkly Christmas jars to use as decorations.

In Forth Valley, the team organised a Christmas sing-along and a virtual games afternoon to bring everyone together.

Dawn Fergusson, support practitioner, said: “It was so lovely to see everyone coming together and making the most of what we can.”

In Dundee, it was all about a socially-distanced festive themed garden party, with a special Christmas Eve zoom call planned to continue the celebrations.

Over in Argyll & Bute, people supported have been designing and sending homemade Christmas cards, getting into the Great British Bake Off spirit by baking tasty treats, and looking forward to lots of lovely Christmas food over the coming weeks. .

We are thrilled to see that across our services, staff and people supported are coming together to celebrate Christmas as best they can. Roll on 2021 and hopefully a better year for all.

Merry Christmas everyone. 🎅 ❄️ 🎁 🦌 ⛄
