Chloe has got up close and personal with a variety of wild animals on her recent trip to the farm.

As our Muirhouse service is now able plan external visits, this gave Chloe the fantastic opportunity of having a few nights away to East Links Farm Park.

The staff at Muirhouse arranged for Chloe to go to the Park in Dunbar by cab, which is safe way for Chloe to travel and meant she was not limited to doing things just in Edinburgh.

The staff member supporting Chloe on the trip said: “The visit made it feel so much more like a holiday, even if at the moment we can’t go too far. Chloe had a great time. She especially loved the chickens and we just had a fantastic day.”

They visited the fortress to eat lunch, looking out across East Lothian. At the Park Chloe also fed the farm animals, explored the park and went on the train that takes you around the whole grounds - all of which is wheelchair accessible.

The train is a 1km train safari round the Park and through the animal paddocks where the enthusiastic farm animals will race up to meet the train. On-board commentary provides interesting facts about the animals you see on the journey.

Chloe saw many animals including, cattle, sheep, pygmy goats, deer, pigs, horses, donkeys, rhea, llamas, wallabies and some ornamental chickens. There was also a pond with ducks and other wild animal visitors. She greatly enjoyed her visit to East Links Farm Park.
