Our latest forum for staff and people supported in Midlothian and East Lothian was a huge success. With an opportunity to provide individual feedback on the year just gone, we spoke about what went well and what changes we might want to see in 2021.

The theme this year was healthy and well-being. All people supported were gifted a healthy goodie bag, delivered before the forum, which included:

  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Porridge pots
  • Recipe book – with recipes submitted by people supported
  • Soil, a plant pot and a seed to grow a basil plant

Everyone at the forum felt very lucky that special guest Karin, from our Craigmillar Community Grows project, gave a demonstration on how to look after basil plants.

Then Stuart, a personal trainer from our partnership with Health by Science, shared advice and got everyone moving with his fun exercise session.

On top of this, the day was also jam-packed with a healthy living quiz and a Carr Gomm twist on ‘Come Dine with Me’ - where everyone shared videos of themselves cooking tasty meals.

Mandy Hay, operations manager, said: “It was fantastic to have so many people; both staff and people supported attend the forum. It was a great way to help people stay connected and it was a real boost for everyone that contributed.

“Our reflection video of the last year was also a real success, with a collection of videos and imagery showcasing everyone’s achievements.”
