SCVO Scottish Charity Awards

We are delighted to announce that ClickGo has been shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s SCVO Scottish Charity Awards, for the category ‘Demonstrating Digital’.

ClickGo is Carr Gomm’s pioneering and award-winning technology for all four Self-Directed Support options. ClickGo is designed for, and successfully used by people with a broad range of disabilities and support needs who want to play an active role in managing their care.

It has been an exciting year for ClickGo, which is now being used by about 150 people who receive support and around 190 staff; and this number is continually growing. ClickGo is also, in conjunction with NHS Lothian and the University of Edinburgh, being offered to people newly diagnosed with dementia in the Lothians as part of an innovative new Digital Support Platform.

Andrew, who leads our Business Development team, commented:

“We're delighted that ClickGo has been shortlisted by the Scottish Charity Award's judges. ClickGo aims to turn the theory of SDS into a practical reality for people, and this award nomination is an indicator that we are achieving this aim.”

We, together with ClickGo users, have proven that regardless of disability or health condition, people with disabilities can access technology. Together, we have proven that the power and control can lie in the hands of the individual.

Our dream is to transform the world of social care and change people’s lives; with ClickGo, we are achieving this.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 22nd June 2017; we’ll let you know if we win!

Scottish Social Services Awards

Another award! The Scottish Social Services Awards are new this year, and our very own Becs Barker, Community Contacts Manager, has been shortlisted as a finalist.

Community Contacts was established in 2013 and provides independent Self Directed Support advice, information and support to communities in Argyll & Bute.

Our team of staff, led by Becs Barker, work with individuals, families and communities to share information and raise awareness of SDS; we also support people to plan and choose the SDS options that are right for them using a person-centred approach.  Becs is truly interested in people, and this interest and willingness to put them at the centre of their service marks her out as someone who provides excellent support.

“Thank you so much for all of your help so far. Out of everyone, only you and the nurse really listen. We really appreciate that you have respected us and not talked to us as if we are stupid. You have taken time and explained things really well.” (Person Supported)

Becs’ nomination to the category ‘Living the Codes’ recognises her passion for people, her vision and her exemplary leadership skills. It is because of this that Community Contacts has developed far beyond its original vision.

Becs’ focus has always been on improving the experience of people supported and ensuring their choices are respected. And what a great opportunity this award is to reinforce how valued her approach is. Well done Becs!

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 13th June 2017. Fingers crossed for Becs.
