Men’s Sheds & Community Growing

Men’s Sheds

“Men don’t talk face to face; they work shoulder to shoulder”

Carr Gomm’s Craigmillar Men’s Shed project is a dedicated, friendly and welcoming meeting place for men to share skills, have a blether and work together on projects.  Our Men’s Shed is open to all men living in the Craigmillar area of Edinburgh.

Men’s Sheds are designed to improve health and well-being by providing the chance to work on shared goals with like minded people.

Run by members for members the group is free to attend and you deicde when to come and what to work on.  We are very grateful to NHS Lothian who fund this project dedicated to improving the the health and wellbeing of local residents.

Members of Men’s Sheds come from all walks of life.  The bond that unites them is that they have time on their hands – time that they are looking to fill with something productive.

Craigmillar Community Grows

This innovative community growing project is bringing people together to learn new skills, enjoy spending time outdoors and improve their environment. Wendy tells us what going along to her local community growing project means for her:

"I like the fact of getting outdoors, meeting people and learning how to grow different things.  There is lots of information provided to help with growing veg.  It has helped me to mingle with people more."

All our community development projects including, Craigmillar Community Grows, are entirely funded by grants and donations.  We're very grateful for the support shown by the Robertson Trust, 29th May 1961 Charitable Trust, PARC EDI, the staff and customers of Waitrose Comely Bank in Edinburgh and other generous donors. We couldn't do it without you!

We would also like to thank The Postcode Local Trust , a grant-giving charity funded by players of People's Postcode Lottery who have also generously funded Craigmillar Community Grows. To find out more about them click here.

Can you help us to reach even more people like Wendy by making a donation?  To donate click here.
